Position Summary:
The Surgical Institute of Central Florida is seeking a PRN Operating Room (OR) Technician & Materials Management Specialist to play a crucial role in both surgical procedures management. This position requires expertise in operating room procedures, instrument handling, and materials management to ensure seamless surgical operations and cost-effective supply management.
Key Responsibilities:
Operating Room & Surgical Support:
Assist surgeons and surgical teams by preparing and maintaining sterile fields in the operating room. Properly handle, organize, and pass surgical instruments and supplies during procedures. Process, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment according to industry standards. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety regulations. Work collaboratively with the surgical team to support efficient OR workflows and optimal patient care.
Materials Management & Inventory Control:
Utilize the ENVI inventory management system to ensure timely ordering and restocking of surgical supplies. Monitor PAR levels to maintain optimal stock without excess inventory, maximizing cost efficiency. Track expiration dates and ensure proper rotation of sterile supplies to prevent waste. Assist in purchasing and negotiating with vendors to maintain cost-effective procurement strategies. Perform regular audits of OR supplies and adjust inventory based on usage trends and demand forecasting. Receive training in ENVI and other facility systems to ensure proficiency in materials management operations.
Qualifications:
Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) and/or Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) preferred. Previous experience in operating room procedures and sterile processing required. Familiarity with materials management, supply chain principles, and inventory tracking systems (ENVI experience is a plus). Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization techniques, and regulatory compliance. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
