RESPONSIBLE FOR

Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasiveprocedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience,education and competency verification. Assists OR staff in theassigned room/case. At time facilitates the operative or otherinvasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterileinstruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech.

Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to theneeds of the surgical team.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Graduate from a surgical technologist program. Requires completionof didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant programor competency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during theorientation period.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Three years perioperative services experience.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW

Certified surgical technologist (CST). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical firstassistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) orequivalent certification preferred
