- exceptionalopportunity Sign on Bonus eligible The assistant nurse manager is aregistered professional nurse who provides support and works inconjunction with the nurse manager of a specific unit(s) orservice.
He/she is viewed as aspiring to be a nurse manager andthrough this role to learn additional knowledge and skills throughexperience and mentoring by the nurse manager and thehospital/system. The assistant nurse manager must possess very goodskills in communication and teamwork and serve as a mentor forothers while learning the responsibilities of his/her role.
Together with the nurse manager, the assistant nurse manager useshis/her knowledge and skills to promote the creation of a center ofexcellence for staff recruitment and retention and clinical andbusiness outcomes. The assistant nurse manager upholds the nursemanager’s direction and actively leads staff in the performance oftheir daily activities and participates in their performancereviews, as well as coaching and counseling as appropriate. Incollaboration with the nurse manager, holds staff accountable forthe delivery of care and services through effective communication,observation, and the management and measurement of specificinterventions/practices and their associated outcomes. This keyleader plays a significant role in assisting the nurse manager inachieving clinical and financial goals along with management ofhuman/material resources as delegated. He/she also plays a pivotalrole in staff recruitment, mentoring and retention. He/She modelsthe way to foster teamwork and collaboration with physicians,staff, patients and other departments. Role specific competencies,responsibilities, roles and functions are based on ProfessionalPractice Model, 5 Star Nursing. It is expected that all RNAssistant Nurse Managers are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold thepractice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional NursePractice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code ofEthics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As amember of the patient services team, it is expected the individualupholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedureswhile supporting service excellence goals
Core Responsibilities andEssential Functions:
Resources and Support
- Engages staff indecision making via shared governance processes and partners withothers to promote patient centered care and service excellence.
Supports the nurse manager as his/her designee and providesevolving leadership and management skills for a specificbusiness/clinical unit(s)
- Represents the organization positivelyto the community, building credibility and is a member of onesprofessional organization
- Serves to support the charge nurse andother nurse leaders on the unit to promote the effective running ofthe care delivery system and ensures that the clinical processes ofcare are working as intended serves as a resource for all staff andaccepts additional responsibilities in the nurse managers absence.
- Assists with budget development and supports monitoring andmeeting fiscal outcomes for the work unit.
Self-directed inlearning how to apply lean and other quality skills to reduce wasteand improve performance of operations and clinical systems of care.

- Effectivelycommunicates to diverse workforce and enjoys mentoring others whilelearning the necessary skills for progressive responsibilities innursing management. Works in collaboration with the nurse managerto hold all staff at point of care accountable for performancestandards

Required Minimum Education
- Bachelors Nursing or Masters Nursing Required Minimum License(s)and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hireunless otherwise stated.
- Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN
- Multi-state Compact
- Basic Life Support or BLS
- InstructorAdditional License(s) and Certification(s): National certificationin nursing administration
Upon Hire Preferred Required MinimumExperience:
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
RequiredRequired Minimum Skills:
Should possess excellent verbal andwritten communication skills and relationship building; desires tosee progressive nursing management roles and enjoys/seeksopportunities to coach and mentor others. Seeks to learn anddemonstrate progressive skills in the business of managing apatient care unit or service by obtaining the commitment andproductivity of nursing staff. Must be a continuous learner whoseeks to better understands health care financing; strategy andoperations for running a business unit(s); and effectively employdata and technology to support work processes and make decisions.
Supports shared governance or shared decision making; manage thedesign and delivery of care that in based on evidence and focusedon quality and safety.
