Facility in Salem, VA Job Details Fusion MedicalStaffing is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist for a 13 weektravel assignment in Salem, VA. RequiredQualifications:

One year of recent experience as a Surgical Tech Valid state license/certification or registration in compliancewith state regulations Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalentcertification Other certifications and licenses may be required for thisposition

Summary:

Surgical Technologists facilitate the safe andeffective execution of surgical procedures under the supervision ofthe surgeon. They are responsible for preparing the operating room,maintaining sterile environments, ensuring equipment functionality,and anticipating the needs of the surgical team to maximize patientsafety and procedural efficiency.

Essential Work Functions:

Prepares the operating room by arranging instruments, supplies,and equipment to ensure readiness for surgical procedures Handle specimens with precision and care to maintain diagnosticintegrity and follow institutional protocols Verifies the availability of surgical supplies, checkingmachines and equipment for proper functioning prior to surgery Assist with patient transfer to and from surgery asrequired Anticipates the needs of the surgical team by passinginstruments, sponges, and supplies during procedures Provides and coordinates patient care with other health teammembers Decontaminates and assists in the sterilization of instruments,surfaces, and other supplies and equipment Ensures instruments, gowns, drapes, surfaces, and othersupplies meet infection control standards Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection controlguidelines, and regulatory standards Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills The ability to read, write, & communicate in the Englishlanguage is required Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities

  • Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
  • To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
  • Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment. Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to cope with frequentcontact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlinesunder pressure. Must be able to work under close supervisionoccasionally as well as working without assistance from otherpersonnel.
