Job Description

Summary As one of the Perioperative Services Support Specialists here at Concord Hospital, you will have the opportunity to work with a highly competent and strong multifunctional team! Reporting to clinical leadership and with daily direction from the unit Resource person, the Perioperative Services Assistant will work in conjunction with and under the guidance of the registered nurses, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to support and provide care to surgical patients. A day in the life of a Perioperative Services Assistant is never the same. You will be exposed to a number of varying challenges and opportunities, and as such, this role is certainly not for the faint of heart. You will have the chance to jump in and provide high-level support across the following: Preparation of Operating Room prior to surgery Acquires, delivers and stocks supplies and equipment timely and efficiently. Supports and assists the Anesthesia Providers Obtaining supplies and equipment for procedures requiring anesthesia Responsible for managing the anesthesia equipment and supplies including proper maintenance, assembly, operation, trouble-shooting, dismantling and cleaning Transporting specimens and/or blood products to and from the lab, and performing quality assurance activities. Ensures equipment is clean and functioning prior to use. Communicates with Registered Nurses regarding missing or malfunctioning equipment Cleans the Operating Room and all related perioperative areas in accordance with established procedures Disposes of soiled materials and fluids Cleans surfaces, floors, lights and equipment , including anesthesia machines, carts and cables Strips and makes beds, Operating Room tables, and stretchers Cleans corridors and ancillary rooms, and empties trash and linen Education High school or equivalent (GED). Certification, Registration & Licensure Current American Heart Association BLS, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association, within three months of hire and certification through the Medical Technician Registry. Experience Ability to read, write, and understand labels and instructions. Good customer service skills.
