We are an elite oral surgery practice that is committed toexceptional care for our patients and first-class service to ourreferring doctors. We are looking for a fun, hardworking,compassionate, team player to help us grow the practice andcontinue to serve our community with all of their oral surgeryneeds. Previous oral surgery experience is a plus but not required.
The role of the Surgical Assistant is critical in providingexceptional patient care resulting in the best clinical outcomesand meeting the needs of our patients. Role and ResponsibilitiesThe Surgical Assistant will help surgeons during surgery byperforming duties such as tissue retraction, intravenous lines, andcompleting documentation.
- Performs preoperative and postoperativeduties to facilitate patient care.
- Verifies the identity ofpatients and operative sites.
- Discusses with surgeon the natureof the surgical procedure including operative consent and methodsof operative exposure.
- Monitors and maintains aseptic techniquethroughout procedures.
- Maintains an unobstructed operative fieldusing surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning and irrigatingequipment.
- Determines availability of necessary equipment andsupplies for operative procedures.
- Obtains and inspects sterileand non-sterile surgical equipment, supplies and instruments.
- Operates sterilization devices.
- Monitors patient intraoperativestatus.
- Obtains dental radiographs and dental imaging.
- Completes patient clinical narratives.
- Other related duties asassigned. Education and Experience
- High School diploma orequivalent required.
- BLS certification required or the ability tocomplete within 1 month of hire.
- At Least one year of relatedexperience preferred.
- DAANCE certification preferred.
- Licenseddental assistant preferred.
- Radiology certification preferred.
