The FA Surgical Technician is primarily responsible for scrubbingor first assisting on surgical procedures in all specialtiesperformed in the area of Surgical Services. The FA practices an expanded role of the Surgical Technician, andwill function under the supervision and direction of the RNFA andor the operating surgeon. When acting in the FA role, the FA willnot concurrently function as the Scrub Tech. The FA is responsible for setting up assigned cases, maintaining asterile field, counting appropriate items with circulating nurseused during surgical cases. This position requires an understandingof the principles of aseptic technique and sterilization, and canapply the knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operativetechnique relative to operative procedures. Performs a variety of tasks such as care of instruments, supplies,sutures, needles and basic equipment, as well as stocking,cleaning, inventory, etc. The FA surgical technician must adhere toBaptist Health policies and procedures pertaining to duties and beable to fulfill verbal and written instructions. Strictly adheresto all OSHA guidelines, safety and infection control policies.

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Surgical Services experience as Scrub Tech 1 year.
  • Successful completion of accredited FA course.

Continuingeducation to include FA specific education; Possesses interpersonalskills; Ability to communicate appropriately, verbal orwritten.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months inposition.
