Actual pay rate dependent upon experience. $23.50 – $34.50 PositionHighlights This could be a 36hr or 40hr work week. Workwhere you matter. A Brief Overview Responds and assists theprofessional nursing staff and Physicians during the pre-procedure,procedure, and post procedure period. This position will assistwith procedure room set-up, equipment cleaning and maintenance, preand post procedure assistance as directed by the Registered Nurseas well as entering and maintaining inventory control and clericalduties for the department. What you will do Prepares the OperatingRoom for surgical procedures in a timely fashion. This may include,not be limited to: organizing equipment and needed instruments;setting up quickly and accurately for emergency cases; assuringproper and adequate equipment for all cases. Assists the surgeon asthe first or second scrub person during surgical procedures.
Maintains a sterile field at all times in the procedure area.
Maintains efficiency in handling surgical instruments atphysician’s request. Verifies specimens with surgeons and nurses.
Assists the circulating nurse to account for all instruments,needles, and sponges involved with the surgical procedure. Achievesand maintains working knowledge of all OR machinery and equipmentused on the sterile field (i.e., lasers, scope equipment, andelectric and nitrogen motors). Receives and verifies correctimplants for all surgical procedures (i.e., grafts, orthopedichardware, allograft etc.). Assists with on-the-job training andorientation of new staff and students. Assists in transporting ofpatients to the O.R. when necessary. Performs decontamination,assembly and sterilization, according to Infection Control andestablished QA monitoring guidelines as demonstrated by annualcompetency review.
Operates sterilization equipment which includes:
steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner,washer/sterilizer, and automated cart washer. Operates equipmentaccording to manufacturer operational directions and in a mannerthat ensures the safety of the operator as demonstrated by annualcompetency review. Utilizes desktop and laptop computers andhandheld PDA for instrument decontamination, assembly and trackingfunctions. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able towork the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, anindividual must be able to perform each essential job functionsatisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to performposition duties and the ability to communicate effectively withothers, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
