Position Summary
This position provides clinical and non-clinical support to Orlando Health customers to optimize the utilization of surgical equipment and the application of technology. This position is responsible for assisting the surgical team with preoperative imaging preparation, appropriate instrumentation, maintaining sterile work environment, Intra-op surgical navigation, anticipating surgeon intraoperative needs with planning surgical orientation and equipment staging.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates with surgical leadership on support for surgical procedures requiring navigation.
- Uses appropriate software to obtain diagnostic studies needed to use navigation equipment.
- Ability to review imaging studies such as MRI, CT, scan and X-rays for patients requiring surgical navigation.
- Ensures that all navigation equipment is functioning properly within the surgical services department. If unable to resolve equipment issues, will notify appropriate department or personal to resolve the issue.
- Provides surgical equipment management support for assigned customers. Interprets and evaluates compliance with appropriate standards for surgical equipment.
- Provides training to nurses, physicians, technicians and other personnel in understanding the theory and safe operation of surgical equipment to ensure the quality of patient care.
- Maintains current knowledge of perioperative surgical technology, policies and procedures
- Prepares and provides appropriate instrumentation, preoperative imaging, and relevant supplies during surgery. Maintains sterile field for surgical procedures.
- Anticipates needs of the surgeon intra-operatively, appropriately plans and prepares OR equipment
- Consults with the surgical team to ensure correct equipment is available and in working order, such as microscopes and navigation equipment.
- Provides expert level point of contact for Navigation/Integration equipment, microscopes, endoscopes, video integration technology and other highly specialized surgery equipment.
- Maintenance and care of surgical equipment including specialty specific positioners.
- Assist with trouble shooting equipment issues.
- Advanced knowledge on various techniques to register patient anatomy including identification of fiducials, anatomical landmarks, surface and intra-operative registration.
Qualifications
Education/Training
High School diploma or equivalent.
Successfully complete training offered through navigation vendor.
Licensure/Certification
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience
2-5 years relevant experience in a hospital or similar experience in the industry working as a vendor of identified devices.
