Consultant Surgical Technologist 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Lake Worth, FL 33449 Job Summary This is a unique job opportunity for an experienced Surgical Technologist to perform in a Consultant Role to our operating room team. We are seeking a surgical technologist who has at least two (2) years of experience in cataract surgery and is available to work Fridays when surgical cases are performed at the surgery center within the ophthalmic clinic. In this position, the Consultant Surgical Technologist will be responsible for training and mentoring technicians new to surgical assist role. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of ophthalmic surgical instrumentation, preparing and maintaining the sterile field, assisting in cataract surgery, and instrument decontamination and sterilization. Responsibilities Assisting in the development of the new surgery center: Surgical instrumentation, surgical supplies and custom packs, setting up the sterile processing room. Training and mentoring new technicians in surgical scrub, sterile technique, preparing and maintaining a sterile field, ophthalmic instrumentation, using the phaco machine, assisting during cataract procedures, and principles of infection control including instrument processing. Performing in the surgical technologist role for cataract procedures while training the new technicians. Performing instrument decontamination and sterilization while training the new technicians Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Completion of a Surgical Technology accredited program, CST preferred Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cataract surgery Knowledge of ophthalmic instruments, procedures, and instrument processing Experience in a leadership or trainer role preferred, or desire to mentor new technicians Strong attention to detail and ability to work in fast paced environments. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. BLS certification.
