RequiredQualifications:
  • One year of recent experience as a CVOR surgicaltech
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA/ ARC)
PreferredQualifications:
  • CST or nationally recognized equivalentcertification
  • Other certifications and licenses may be requiredfor this position
Summary:

CVOR surgical technologists facilitatesthe safe and effective execution of cardiovascular surgicalprocedures under the supervision of the surgeon. They areresponsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining sterileenvironments, ensuring equipment functionality, and anticipatingthe needs of the surgical team to maximize patient safety andprocedural efficiency.

Essential Work Functions:
  • Set up theoperating room prior to surgical procedures
  • Stock surgicalsupplies and inspect surgical machines and equipment to ensureproper functionality prior to procedures
  • Assist in Transportingpatients to and from surgery as required
  • Collaborate withsurgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the surgical teamto deliver coordinated care
  • Anticipating the surgeon’s needs andefficiently passing instruments are essential for maintainingprocedural flow
  • Handle specimens with precision and care tomaintain diagnostic integrity and follow institutional protocols
  • Collaborate with other health team members to ensure seamlesssurgical workflow
  • Maintain sterility by cleaning and sterilizinginstruments and equipment in compliance with infection controlstandards
  • Utilize data from surgical preference cards for thesurgical procedure and surgeon
  • Maintain proficiency incardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures, includingopen and closed heart surgeries
  • Perform other duties as assignedwithin the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols,infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
RequiredEssential Skills:
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and goodinterpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to read, write, &communicate in the English language is required
  • Ability toread/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions,and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical Abilities
  • Remain in astationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs),pushing, pulling, bending
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • To workeffectively with a variety of personnel (professional andancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills
  • Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the generalpublic, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must beable to work under close supervision occasionally as well asworking without assistance from other personnel. Must be able tocontend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
