• 5:30p) Job Overview This position is anentry level Surgical Technician position who practices under thesupervision of the surgical team in the Operating Room to deliverpatient care throughout the perioperative experience.

Assists theSurgeon during surgery by providing the appropriate instruments andin maintaining and organizing operating room equipment. Performsaccording to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectivesof the department and hospital. Works cooperatively withindepartment and other services to create a system of quality healthcare. Minimum Qualifications 1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. Before July 1, 2013, employed as a surgical technologist in asurgical facility; OR Successfully completed a training program forsurgical technology in the military; OR Graduated from anaccredited Surgical Tech Program. 3. 0-Less than 12 Months ofhealthcare experience. 4. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities listedbelow are intended to describe the general nature of work and arenot intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties andresponsibilities may be assigned. 1. Functions in a professionalmanner as the Surgical Technologist Operating Room on a widevariety and in all stages of surgical procedures. 2. Maintainsstrict aseptic technique during set-up, patient draping and duringsurgical procedure. 3. Scrubs on surgical cases, participates insurgery by organizing the instrumentation to the surgeon,participating in surgical counts. 4. Selects and prepares theappropriate instruments, supplies and equipment for surgical cases.5. Performs all counts with the circulating nurse according toOperating Room policy. 6. Manages all intraoperative medications inaccordance with Operating Room policy. 7. Manages surgicalspecimens according to Physician’s orders and Hospital policy. 8.Follows Operating Room procedures for the proper decontamination ofinstrumentation, equipment, and room turnover. 9. When notparticipating on surgical cases, assists with positioning obtainingneeded items during surgery and assists in room turnoveractivities.
