A Brief Overview Accountable forproviding high quality professional care to patients and familiesunder the supervision of the Surgery Leader and/or Surgeon withinthe surgical suites and other clinical areas within their scope ofpractice. What you will do Assists surgeon within the scope of competency and standards ofpractice. Utilizes techniques of infection control/universalprecautions. Washes and sterilizes equipment and keeps a cleanoperating room. Rotates in SPD area cleaning & sterilizing instruments for OR,floors, ER, & clinics. Updates preference cards to ensure all team members can performprocedures as per surgeon requests. Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedure, andstandards of practice. Verifies patient identity. Verifies operative procedure,operative site, surgeon, and consent. Applies and monitors the principles of aseptic techniquethroughout the intraoperative period. Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts according topolicy procedure. Participates in the evaluation of new supplies, equipmentand/or instruments. Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arrangesinstruments according to instructions. Essential Qualifications Theindividual must be able to work the hours specified. To performthis job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential job function satisfactorily including having visualacuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability tocommunicate effectively with others, hear, understand anddistinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
Technical Certificate Graduate from an Accredited SurgicalTechnologist Program Certified Surgical Tech (CST) – National Board of SurgicalTechnology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
