Job Description:

The Surgical Technologist II assists the team of medicalprofessional providing surgical care to patients under the directsupervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) by verifying health dataand observing the patient. Working under general supervision, thisrole performs first and second scrub duties and table setup formore advanced procedures. Ensures that sterile equipment is notbrought in contact with unsterile items or surfaces so that asepsisis maintained.

Observes and reports on patient health changes inorder to adapt the care plan as necessary.

Completes the basic scrubduties and table set-ups for procedures to provide a sterile andprepared environment for surgery.

Gathers supplies and checksequipment to ensure that the necessary materials are prepared forsurgery.

Verifies health status data for patients with thecirculating nurse in order to keep a detailed record of a patient’scondition.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a SurgicalTechnology accredited through ARC/STSA or equivalent militarytraining with surgical tech experience

EXPERIENCE
Required:

1 yearsurgical techexperience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
Required:

BLS(CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderCertifiedSurgical Technologist (CST). Surgical Technologists hired prior to12/31/2017 will have the certification requirement waived. If theCST credential was held on 12/31/17, credential must be maintainedwithout lapse.
