Certified Surgical Technician Specialty Coordinator Who We Are:
SNHMC has nine operating room suites, 25 pre-op/PACU bays, and asterile processing department. Hours are flexible, with 8
- 10•and 12-hour day shifts available.
The OR has a dedicated call teamSunday through Thursday nights beginning at 7PM, making OR callminimal. Services range from elective and non-elective procedures,including neurological, orthopedic, gynecological, urological,bariatric, colorectal, vascular, ENT, general, breast, andplastics. Surgical services are growing and evolving, utilizing thelatest technology for the wide variety of procedures we perform.
The OR also offers Periop-101 and advancements. About the
Job:
As amember of the Surgical Services team, the Surgical Technologistidentifies and prepares sterile instrumentation and equipment forsurgical procedures. This role assists the surgical team with theverification process, intra-operative procedures, and case closureprotocol. In given circumstances that may arise must respondappropriately to emergency situations. The CST SpecialtyCoordinator is the responsible person and resource/liaison for thespecified designated area(s) of specialty.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensures needs of the surgeons are met.
- Maintain and Coordinatesupdates to preference cards within specialty area(s)
- Acts asprimary liaison for the surgeons and the surgical servicesmanagement team.
- Keeps Clinical Nurse Manager and Directorinformed of all issues.
- Responsible for the maintenance andinventory of all supplies and equipment within the designated areaof specialty. Exhibits concern for cost containment. Evaluatesexisting options prior to requesting new equipment, supplies.
- Assists surgical services OR in activities related to qualityimprovement, continuing education, orientation, teaching, andpreceptorship of new staff members.
Who You Are:
- Graduate of anaccredited surgical technologist program required.
- Tech inSurgery (TS-C) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- New Hampshire MedicalTechnologist registration is required (unless other current NHlicense is held).
- Ability to complete the following competencies
- Within 30 days:
- Basic Life Support
- Within 90 days:
- Use ofpreference cards
- Instrument preparation
- Maintenance of sterilefield
- Surgical briefings and time-outs
- Instrument safe handling
- Surgical counts
- Instrument inventory and decontamination
