Virtua Center for Surgery 239 Hurffville Crosskeys Road, Sewell, NJ 08080 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic surgical team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures by providing essential support to surgeons and other medical staff. This position requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, patient care, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready for use. Assist surgeons by passing instruments and other items during operations, while anticipating their needs. Conduct thorough data collection before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. Collaborate with the surgical team to provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including acute care, medical-surgical units, ambulatory surgery centers, and critical care environments. Maintain knowledge of physiology and surgical techniques to effectively support various types of surgeries. Adhere to strict infection control protocols and safety standards throughout all surgical processes. Participate in the education and training of new staff members or students as needed. Requirements Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program is preferred. Experience in acute care settings, including medical-surgical units or ICU environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with ambulatory surgery centers and hospital medicine practices is a plus. Strong knowledge of basic life support (BLS) techniques and protocols. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and adapt quickly to changing situations in the operating room.
