Job Summary:

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is responsible for assisting in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. The CST ensures that the operating room is sterile, equipment is functional, and all necessary supplies are available. The role includes preparing patients, handling instruments during surgery, and maintaining a sterile field.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare operating rooms for surgery by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, drapes, and sterile solutions. Ensure all surgical equipment is sterilized and functioning properly. Assist the surgical team with gowning and gloving. Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during operations. Maintain a sterile environment to prevent infections and complications. Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure nothing is retained in the patient. Help prepare and transport patients to and from the operating room. Monitor and maintain supplies and inventory in the operating room. Dispose of used surgical supplies and clean the operating area following procedures. Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. At least 1 year of experience
