Description:

The ScrubTechnician participates as a team member in the planning andimplementation of patient care. Demonstrates an ability tocollaborate with medical, nursing, and ancillary services toprovide safe patient care. Exhibits a professional and courteousmanner while handling confidential information with discretion.

Cleans instruments and ensures sterility by utilizing appropriateprocedures. Recognizes completion of steam autoclave and automatedhigh-level disinfectant units. Selects equipment and supplies in anorganized manner based on surgical procedures. Demonstratescompetence in preparing instrument sets according to preferencelists and patient history. Utilizes supplies cost-effectively.

Handles and operates sophisticated equipment efficiently. Adaptsreadily to changes in surgical procedures. Creates and maintains asterile field. Maintains aseptic technique at all times inaccordance with standards. Opens and handles sterile suppliescorrectly. Performs proper surgical hand scrubbing, donning sterilegown and gloves. Sets up sterile field and receives sterilesupplies from the circulator. Assists in proper draping of thepatient. Initiates corrective measures when a break in steriletechnique occurs. Collaborates with medical and nursing staff inproviding safe patient care. Uses care with sharps to preventinjury or contamination. Follows policies and procedures for countsand maintains an adequate count of all countable items. Initiatesproper protocol when counts are incorrect. Accurately draws upmedication with proper labeling of all solutions and syringes.

Serves as a preceptor and mentor to new employees. Assesses thesurgical environment for safety, cleanliness, and compliance withregulatory standards. Supports a state of continual servicereadiness. Ensures a clean, safe, and orderly work and careenvironment.
