RequiredQualifications:

One year of recent experience as a Surgical TechValid state license/certification or registration in compliancewith state regulations Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) orequivalent certification Other certifications and licenses may berequired for this position

Summary:

Surgical Technologistsfacilitate the safe and effective execution of surgical proceduresunder the supervision of the surgeon. They are responsible forpreparing the operating room, maintaining sterile environments,ensuring equipment functionality, and anticipating the needs of thesurgical team to maximize patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Essential Work Functions:

Prepares the operating room by arranginginstruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure readiness forsurgical procedures Handle specimens with precision and care tomaintain diagnostic integrity and follow institutional protocolsVerifies the availability of surgical supplies, checking machinesand equipment for proper functioning prior to surgery Assist withpatient transfer to and from surgery as required Anticipates theneeds of the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, andsupplies during procedures Provides and coordinates patient carewith other health team members Decontaminates and assists in thesterilization of instruments, surfaces, and other supplies andequipment Ensures instruments, gowns, drapes, surfaces, and othersupplies meet infection control standards Adhere to hospital safetyprotocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsPerforms other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required Ability toread/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions,and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities

• Remain in astationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs),pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
• To workeffectively with a variety of personnel (professional andancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills
• Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment. Mental Requirements
• Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public,customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able towork under close supervision occasionally as well as workingwithout assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contendwith irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuousconcentration to detail Sensory
• Visual acuity, ability toeffectively communicate.
