Job Summary/Purpose:

Under general supervision, the CVOR CertifiedSurgical Technologist II independently functions as member of theCardiovascular Operating Room team to prepare sterile supplies andequipment used in CVOR surgical procedures and perform appropriateroom duties involved with direct patient care with adherence toestablished procedural guidelines. This position demonstratesknowledge and skills required to provide care and/or serviceappropriate to the level of development of patients, withconsideration of the needs of patients’ families.

Minimum Training and Education:
  • High school diploma orequivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technologyprogram or surgical technology military program and a minimum oftwo years’ work experience within an operating room settingrequired.
  • The Level II practitioner demonstrates a higher levelof critical thinking and problem-solving skills and has met theLevel I Certified Surgical Technologist CVOR criteria.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
  • Credentialed asa Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board ofSurgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (formerly LCC-ST)required and must be maintained. Current American Heart Association(AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red CrossBLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
