Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Monitor Tech (EKG) to join our dynamic Telemetry/Medical Surgical Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in cardiac monitoring and a strong understanding of EKG interpretation. As a Monitor Tech, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous observation of patients’ cardiac rhythms, assisting in the early detection of arrhythmias, and supporting the clinical team in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Continuously monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms via telemetry and EKG equipment. Report significant arrhythmias or changes in patient status to the nursing staff and physicians promptly. Assist in the placement, removal, and maintenance of telemetry and EKG leads and equipment. Maintain and calibrate telemetry and EKG machines to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely patient data. Provide clear and accurate documentation of monitoring activities and observations. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times. Participate in department meetings and ongoing training as required.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree or vocational training in a related field preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus. Certification in EKG/Telemetry monitoring (e.g., Certified EKG Technician or equivalent) preferred. Proven experience as a Monitor Tech or in a similar role within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and EKG interpretation. Proficient in the use of telemetry and EKG equipment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to report critical information clearly. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
