out of 5 stars 2120 Sarno Road, Melbourne, FL 32935 POSITION SUMMARY The Ultrasonographer (diagnostic ultrasound technician) provides superior quality, competitive value, and outstanding service by performing ultrasonic diagnostic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians. Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to BHA established standards and practices.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Formal training ranges from a two-year vocational or associates degree program to a Bachelor’s degree. Associates degree in diagnostic medical sonographer is the most common. One-year formal ultrasound training in an AMA (American Medical Association) approved ultrasound program Training in ultrasonography and registered with ARDMS as a licensed sonographer (abdomen and OB/GYN Graduate of accredited Ultrasound Program RDMS registry or registry eligible preferred

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS ARDMS

certified or eligible Minimum of one year of clinical experience in ultrasound Previous experience in OB/GYN, abdominal sonography Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Performs diagnostic procedures applying prescribed methods of ultrasound technique Produces diagnostic images for ultrasounds Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns Keys test data and patient information into computer to maintain record of test results Maintains and calibrates equipment Monitors, records, and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems, including EMR Systems Utilizes knowledge of specific needs of patients in performance of duties and responsibilities Maintain patient data base Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management, and peers Assure that exam rooms are clean, neat, stocked, and disinfected and that equipment is clean, disinfected, and ready for the next patient Excellent communication skills Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively Ability to work independently Adherence to all policies and procedures including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearances Contributes to department development, education, personal and professional growth. Maintains familiarity with and follows all department policies and procedures, safety program, emergency preparedness, Infection Control, etc. Follows all State and American Obstetrics Association requirements Follow Infection Control policies and procedures, practice aseptic and sterile techniques Performs all other duties as assigned
