7727 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando, FL 32822 The community you’ll be caring for: AdventHealth East Orlando AdventHealth East Orlando, a 265-bed community hospital, has been serving East Orlando residents since 1941 as an innovative local leader that fills a vital need in a fast-growing area A recent 200,000 square-foot expansion project upgraded the hospital to 265 beds, with a spacious patient tower and 80 new private rooms designed to enhance the holistic care experience Annual number of emergency cases: 89,018 The role you’ll contribute: The Lead Diagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer, under general supervision, performs general Sonography and Vascular Sonography procedures in accordance with department protocols while adhering to all rules and regulations of applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Oversees daily schedule and is the first point of contact for all issues including patient flow, image quality and other matters pertaining to patient care when Supervisor or Manager are not available. Rounds with staff quarterly (performance tracers) and performs monthly staff image quality assurance (QA) as assigned. Assists with the training and orientation of new employees. Ensures equipment is properly maintained and performs ultrasound equipment quality control (QC) testing including daily monitoring of GUS (Glutaraldehyde User Station) and/or Trophon units where applicable. Orders clinical supplies ensuring adequate par levels. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Clinical Competence:

Performs a full range of diagnostic general and vascular Sonography procedures. Utilizes knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of all ages (neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatrics). Acquires knowledge and skills through in-service, continuing education and/or experience. Adapts to new technologies and protocols and assists in developing the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students.

Image Quality and Documentation:

Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patient body habitus and/or prep status as observed by Radiologists and Ultrasound Manager. Follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual. Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam. Reviews all images on Ultrasound machine or in PACS and thoroughly fills out Ultrasound worksheet in a timely manner. Rescans patient as requested by Radiologist. Is open to critique of exams by Radiologist, department Manager and/or department Educator.

Data Processing:

Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update orders as needed. Ensures charges match procedure completed. Confirms proper exam/patient assignment in PACS prior to tech completing the study. Corrects erroneous accession numbers in PACS when needed. Notifies Radiologist Facilitator (RF) and transmits required worksheet and requisition for all after hour’s cases. Safety and the

Environment of Care:

Operates and maintains Ultrasound equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to all infection control standards. May handle and dispose of hazardous material (Hazmat) waste. Completes initial training (prior to handling Hazmat waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and disposal of Hazmat waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment. Follows guidelines for proper use of GUS and/or Trophon unit. Washes hands before and after every patient encounter.

Qualifications What You Will Need:

Graduate of Ultrasound Program Basic Life Support (BLS) certification American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) licensure to include RDMS Credential with the following specialty examinations: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS Abdomen (AB) and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) and Registered Vascular Technology RVT Vascular Technology (VT) and One additional registry specialty examination to include: only Breast (BR), Fetal Echocardiography (FE), Musculoskeletal Sonographer Examination (MSKS), or Pediatric Sonography (PS) This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
