/n /n/n /n The role you’ll contribute: /n /n/n /n TheDiagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer, under generalsupervision performs general Sonography and Vascular Sonographyprocedures in accordance with department protocols. Performs, at atechnical level, a variety of ultrasound procedures on neonatalthrough geriatric patients. Assists physicians with interventionalprocedures. Selects practical applications and technical factors.

Is knowledgeable in and carries out all applicable processes of thedepartment. Assumes responsibility for designated areas orprocedures. Participates in the AdventHealth performanceimprovement program. Adheres to the AdventHealth CorporateCompliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicablelocal, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Exam Supervision and Administration:

Consistentlyobtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patientbody habitus and/or NPO prep status as observed by Radiologists,Ultrasound Educator, and Ultrasound Manager. Follows proper examprotocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual.

Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracybefore administering exam. Performs, properly documents, andreports all procedures in accordance with departmental policy.

Adapts procedure to each patient’s medical situation obtaining allavailable necessary information for proper interpretation.

Maintains patient confidentiality. /n /n•

Diagnostic Image Qualityand Documentation:

Reviews all images on ultrasound machine or Weband thoroughly fills out Ultrasound worksheet in a timely manner.

Re-scans patient as requested by Radiologist. Is open to critiqueof exams by Radiologist and/or department Manager/Educator.

Exhibits desire to learn and upgrade clinical skills. Maintainsfamiliarity with new procedures. Assists with clinical instructionsand serves as a resource to less experienced employees. /n /n•

Personal Productivity and Accountability:

Completes exams in atimely manner. Properly and consistently evaluates patient prepstatus and schedules exam accordingly. Coordinates acceptablepatient throughput in either an IP and/or OP setting keeping thedepartment on schedule and maintaining desired productivity.

Follows direction from Manager and Lead Sonographer. Keepssupervisor or manager informed and seeks assistance fromappropriate individuals when confronted with complicated proceduresto ensure safe and effective patient care. Communicates andcollaborates with multidisciplinary team. Communicates abnormalfindings to the reading physicians and notifies the physicians ofprocedures to be interpreted. Maintains a professional relationshipwith all customers. Communicates with patients and family membersappropriate to age and understanding. /n /n•

Data Processing:

Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/updateorders as needed. Ensures charges match procedure completed.

Confirms proper exam/patient assignment at QC before releasingimages to PACS for interpretation. Corrects erroneous accessionnumbers in PACS when needed. Notifies Radiology Facilitator (RF)and transmits required worksheet and requisition for allafter-hour’s cases. Effective knowledge of all Information Systemsused in the Ultrasound department. Accurately documents, completesand charges procedures to ensure quality standards set by thedepartment and hospital. • Graduate of UltrasoundProgram /n /n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification /n /n
• ARDMS credentials to include: /n /n/n /n
• Registered DiagnosticMedical Sonographer RDMS (AB) and /n /n
• Registered DiagnosticMedical Sonographer RDMS (OB/GYN) and /n /n
