POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality Echo procedures to our patients andphysicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providingthose services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education /

Training:

Earned a degree/certificate from an accredited Echocardiographyprogram. Must be registered or registry eligible inEchocardiography. Proficient in performing TEE studies, stress echostudies, and use of contrast. BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Preference of at least two years of work experience aftergraduation.

Equipment and Skills Training:

Will train on specific equipment and processes in Echo atWilliamson Health.

Physical Environment:

Multimodality imaging department that provides Echocardiograms.

Works with cardiologists during TEE’s and Cardioversions.

Physical Effort:

Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include:physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movementof patients from wheelchairs to stretchers; bend, twist, stoop;lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing;make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergencysituations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychologicalhealth in day-to-day interaction with fellow employees, patients,their families, and physicians. Must be willing to take call forSTAT, Urgent, and Routine studies after hours and on weekends andmust be available within 30 minutes for STAT Procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Checks patient identification and physician order to ensureaccuracy of request before proceeding with study. Recognizes abnormal studies and reports appropriately.

Understands proper use of Definity. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtimeperiods and always makes good use of time. Correctly records preliminary calculations and postmeasurements and findings. Assist Cardiologists during TEE’s and Cardioversions. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makesappropriate decisions. Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed. Performs high quality studies consistently and followspre-determined standards (protocols) and procedures for allechocardiography studies. Communicates and follows through with fellow employees toensure that all requests from physicians and patients arecompleted. Willing to provide portable studies for patients when it is inthe best interest of the patient as deemed necessary by thepatient’s nurse or nursing supervisor. Utilizes knowledge of anatomy and disease processes toaccurately communicate patient pathology to Cardiologist. Responds in a timely manner when on call.
