$38.72 – $58.08 /hour. Pay is dependent on applicant’s relevant experience
Summary:
Performs sonography in accordance with applicable scope andstandards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission ofthe organization.
Responsibilities:
Reviews patient history,physician’s orders and does scheduling. Educates patient regardingprocedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient’s understandingand cooperation. When ordered, prepares and administers contrastmedia and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patientcondition continually and reports/responds to changes in status asappropriate. Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriateexposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safetystandards and performs appropriate quality control procedures onequipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipmentmalfunctions as necessary. Positions patient and performs imagingprocedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with thequality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolveimage quality issues, including re-positioning patient andrepeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
May work with Radiology students. Within scope of job, requirescritical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability towork with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-pacedenvironment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
MinimumRequired Education:
Graduate of an accredited UltrasoundTechnologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program.
Required Licensure/Certification:
Registered as a DiagnosticMedical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), orDiagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry forDiagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or certified in Sonography(S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).State licensure if required by law. Basic Life Support (BLS)Healthcare Provider.
Minimum Experience:
None required. BLS throughthe American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR forthe Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date.
