DESCRIPTION
OF POSITION
Ultrasound Technologist works with OB/GYN to diagnose and treat patients using diagnostic ultrasound examinations. The Ultrasound Technologist will prepare patients and equipment for radiology procedures, performs the tests, and maintains the equipment.
SUPERVISION
Reports directly to the Ultrasound Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Review patients’ chart for imaging procedure.
Key commands and data into computer to document.
Prepare and educate patients about the imaging procedure
Position patients and equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images
Monitor patients and ensure their safety during imaging procedures.
Calibrate the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the doctor.
Ensure proper sterilization, maintaining radiographic equipment and reporting any equipment failures.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current radiology practices.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and some lifting required.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required;
Completion of an Ultrasound Tech program
Experience in providing direct patient care. Physician office setting desirable
Preferred but not required: CPR (lifesaver) certified
Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
Ability to read, write, and speak intelligible English
Previous experience working in certain specialty areas may be desirable
Computer literacy
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate and understand radiologic technology and equipment.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time.
Must be adaptable to change.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting.
The work environment may be physically confining.
Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
