Licensure Must-Have:
Candidates must have at least one year ofexperience with a wide array of exposure to various types ofultrasound. A good track record with past employers and positivereferences is essential. Knowledge of anatomy and pathology withthe ability to recognize normal from abnormal findings is required.
Basic scanning skills with a good understanding of sonographicphysics and techniques is necessary. Clinical experience in ahospital or acute care setting, with some exposure to general,vascular, and OB-GYN sonography is a must.
Description:
Thisposition is for three guaranteed days, Friday through Sunday. Theunit has 4 ultrasound rooms. There are 14 staff members in total.
Day Shift has 4 sonographers staffed, plus a supervisor. Onesonographer is staffed during the second shift after 7:30 PM. Onesonographer is staffed for the night shift. The patient ratios are8-10 in an 8-hour shift. The unit is equipped with Siemens AcusonS200 and GE Logiq E10 machines. EMR is managed through Allscripts,and PACS is handled by InteleRad. The patient population rangesfrom pediatrics to geriatrics. Typical procedures performed includethoracentesis, paracentesis, fine needle aspirations (FNAs), softtissue mass biopsies, liver and renal biopsies, and drainages.
Ultrasound procedures may include breast needle placements, carotidstudies, and prostate biopsies. The ideal candidate will behardworking, willing to learn, and a motivated self-starter. A fastlearner who is considerate of others and provides compassionatepatient care is preferred. The ability to work as part of a teamand independently is essential. Candidates should be willing toteach and must not engage in gossip. Effective communication withmanagement is important. All department policies must be adheredto. This position does not require on-call duty. Weekend shifts arecovered by weekend position staff. Opportunities for extra shiftswithin the department are available.
