Overview:
The Ultrasound Technologist utilizes ultrasoundequipment to provide diagnostic sonographic examinations to locate,evaluate and record critical functional, pathological andanatomical data. This role is responsible for providing serviceson-call for after-hours and emergency cases, including nights,weekends, and holidays. Working under direct supervision, theUltrasound Technologist ensures accuracy and quality of ultrasoundexaminations, enabling physicians to make informed decisions aboutpatient care, and contribute to providing patients with an optimaloverall health care experience.
Responsibilities:
Performshigh-quality routine and special ultrasound examinations followingestablished protocols and procedures to minimize repeatexaminations and assist in the accurate diagnosis and treatment ofpatients, ensuring optimal patient care. Ensures the safety andcomfort of patients during ultrasound procedures by explaining theprocess, addressing concerns, and positioning patients correctly topromote a positive patient experience. Operates and maintainsultrasound equipment, troubleshoots technical issues, and optimizesimaging parameters to produce high-quality images and ensureaccurate interpretations by radiologists or physicians. Documentsand records accurate patient information, examination details, andpreliminary findings in Picture Archiving and Communication System(PACS), and resolves any errors related to the final product beingsent to PACS to maintain proper patient records and ensurecomprehensive documentation for effective communication andcontinuity of care. Collaborates and communicates effectively withthe healthcare team, including radiologists, physicians, nurses,and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated patientcare and prompt sharing of critical findings. Performs other dutiesas assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Required:
High SchoolDiploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or relatededucational program
EXPERIENCE
Required:
2 years
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
Required:
BLS(CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider ARDMSUltrasound Technologist, ARRT RT(S) Ultrasound Technologist or
CCIRVS RVT/RVS
Registered Vascular Technologist required for siteswithout onsite Vascular Lab (APH, ARMC, & MedCenters) Whererequired, all current Cone Health Sonographers will have 2-years tosuccessfully complete RVT requirement. Any new candidatesonographer will have 16 months to successfully complete RVTrequirement.
