Summary:

Providesa variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures (invasive andnon-invasive) interprets a variety of ultrasound examinationsranging from routine OB/GYN, vascular, abdomen and small body partsto intra-cavity and color Doppler and a variety ofbiopsies.

Responsibilities:

The sonographer independently performsdiagnostic ultrasound exams (including but not limited toabdominal, small parts, OB/GYN, breast, abdominal duplex,musculoskeletal, CEUS, and pediatric sonography. The technologistwill assist the radiologists with invasive procedures such asbiopsies, injections, and aspirations. This employee must complywith departmental protocols under indirect supervision of theattending radiologist and departmental supervisor. Jobresponsibilities include but aren’t limited to: proper operation ofand care for equipment, providing quality care to patients, andproper use of the electronic medical records and reporting systems.

Involvement with peers in the scheduling and coordinating of thedaily workload. Summarizing exam findings on a report worksheet andcommunicating the impression to the radiologist at the completionof each exam. Accuracy in the performance of exams and willingnessto learn and perform all current and new procedures is required.

Works closely with radiologists to not only perform exams but toassist in training of resident physicians, fellows, and studentsassigned to the area. Maintains CPR certification, CME credits, andactive ARDMS certification.

• Completion of a twelve (12)month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or GeneralUltrasound.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• RDMS registeredby the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year fromdate of hire. Must maintain registry status and continuingeducation requirements annually.• Basic Life Support (BLS) forHealthcare Provider certification
