JOB SUMMARY

: Under the direction of theRadiology Medical Director, the

Sonographer:

Performs sonographicprocedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensedindependent practitioner. Ensures services are performed in a safeenvironment in accordance with established guidelines andregulatory requirements. Serves as part of the imaging center teamand seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinicalpractice.

EXPERIENCE

: Up to 5years experience as a licensed Sonographer.

EDUCATION

: Must be agraduate of an approved program of diagnostic sonography.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

: Must be registered or registryeligible through the American Registry of Diagnostic MedicalSonographers (RDMS) or ARRT (S). RVT certification required withinone year of hire, in addition to one of the following: OB,Abdominal or General. Additionally, must meet the state licensurerequirement for the state in which they practice. BLS certificationrequired within 60 days of hire.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

: Skill inoperation of Sonography equipment as well as applicable ancillaryequipment. Ability to work independently and multitask. Ability toprovide documentation accurately and concisely. Demonstratesunderstanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology,pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology. Knowledge ofcomputer applications, including information and billing systems,keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.
