Key Responsibilities As a Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer at NYH, you will be integral to the care and support of both patients and the medical team.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Diagnostic Imaging & Equipment Operation As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will independently operate sonographic equipment to conduct diagnostic imaging procedures. These include examinations of the pelvis, upper and lower abdomen (such as the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas), and retroperitoneal areas (including kidneys and adrenal glands). You are expected to perform these procedures with accuracy and efficiency while ensuring high-quality image acquisition and patient safety.. Clinical Evaluation & Results Reporting You will be responsible for communicating findings to the provider by inputting sonographic results into the procedure section of the electronic medical record (EMR) office visit note. You’ll also conduct image quality assessments (QA) and ensure timely transfer of images to the PACS system for provider review and dictation. Patient Care & Positioning You will assist in transferring, positioning, and immobilizing patients to ensure optimal image quality during exams. You must tailor imaging settings and positioning techniques to each patient’s individual needs while following prescribed safety protocols to minimize exposure risks. Support for Daily Operations Your role will include managing the daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, including maintaining the schedule, reporting equipment malfunctions, and ensuring the upkeep of machines and workspace. You will also assist in opening and closing the facility and ensure the exam rooms are clean, stocked, and organized. Inventory & Supply Management You will be responsible for stocking supplies in patient exam rooms and clinical areas and preparing weekly inventory lists for the Office Manager. You will also assist in training fellow staff members and new hires, ensuring consistent support across all clinical functions. Clinical & Administrative Assistance In addition to imaging duties, you will assist providers during patient visits and office procedures. This includes measuring and recording patient vital signs, performing phlebotomies, sterilizing medical equipment, prepping EMR visit notes, and transferring patient HPI into the EMR. You will support the team with data entry for office visits and help prepare for upcoming sessions. Other Duties You will perform additional responsibilities as assigned, which may include diagnostic testing under the supervision of a provider after obtaining appropriate certifications.

What We’re Looking For Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required Graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasonography. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) – RDMS (AB) required; RVT preferred Must obtain additional registries within one year of hire, if not already held. Must comply with continuing education requirements set by ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI.

Skills & Experience:

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently. High standard of ethics and professionalism. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

Reliable transportation to travel between NYCBS locations Must be available to cover other locations in the Progressive Urology Division for PTO or call-outs. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
