  • Summary Performs a variety of high-risk obstetricultrasound examinations and procedures using the established AIUMprotocols with experience associated degree of individual judgmentbased on the clinical circumstances and patient conditions.

Performs clinical assessment, diagnostic sonography examinations,and synthesizes information with patient’s medical history. JobDuties

  • Records anatomical, pathological and/or physiological datafor interpretation by a physician.
  • Maintains electronic patientcharts and records to processes sonographic data and otherpertinent observations made during the sonogram.
  • Maintainspatient information in the ultrasound documentation/reportingsystem, image storage system, and EMR. Obtains pertinent medicalhistory from record prior to exams and prepares preliminary reportsas requested by the physician.
  • Uses independent judgement duringthe sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal andpathologic findings.
  • Selects appropriate transducers and adjustsequipment to optimize the images utilizing the availableapplications and options on the ultrasound machine, based on fetalposition, anatomy, and depth of tissue characteristics.
  • Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action whenpossible.
  • Explains medical studies and procedures to patients sothey are well informed regarding the examination. MinimumQualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and
  • Technical SchoolDiploma Ultrasonography or
  • Associate’s Degree Diagnostic MedicalSonography
  • Ability to maintain compliance with regulatoryagencies.
  • Ability to implement advanced imaging techniques whenmedically applicable (3D/4D).
  • Knowledge of various sonographyequipment and related applications.
  • Participates in changes toimprove efficiency, workflows, and/or patient safety.

  • NT•NuchalTranslucency•State of Pennsylvania within 180 Days PreferredQualifications•Bachelor’s Degree Healthcare or businessdiscipline Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
Examples:

Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force),lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient’s weight. Frequentto continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10miles per shift.

  • Patient care providers may be required to performactivities specific to their role including kneeling, bending,squatting and performing CPR.
