Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program
  • Oneyear of recent experience as an Echo Cardiovascular Technologist
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Valid Ultrasound license incompliance with state regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification(ARDMS)
  • Current ARRT Certification in Sonography
  • CurrentCredential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on specialty
Summary:

The Cardiac Sonographer provides specialized diagnosticcare by performing echocardiography to assess cardiac structure andfunction. Working independently in diverse clinical settings, thetechnologist ensures high-quality imaging, accurate datacollection, and patient safety. This role involves patienteducation on the echocardiography process and active collaborationwith physicians and multidisciplinary teams to support accuratemedical diagnoses.

Essential Work Functions:
  • Demonstrateexpertise in cardiac echocardiography, including the use of Dopplerand 3-D imaging techniques
  • Maintain strong proficiency inoperating echocardiography equipment and applying advanced imagingtechniques specific to cardiac assessments
  • Review patient historyand verify orders to ensure appropriate examinations are conducted
  • Educate patients and/or family members about the echocardiographyprocedures addressing questions if they arise
  • Identify, correct,and document imaging artifacts using echo-specific methods toensure diagnostic quality
  • Maintains accurate patient records anddocumentation in compliance with institutional policies andregulatory standards
  • Collaborate effectively withmultidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe workenvironment
  • Work efficiently in fast-paced and potentiallystressful environments, maintaining composure and professionalism
  • Follow directions from supervisors and comply with facilitypolicies, procedures, and standards
  • Perform other duties asassigned within the scope of practice for

  • Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required
  • Abilityto read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills

  • Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment(50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending

  • Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment.

  • Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the generalpublic, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must beable to work under close supervision occasionally as well asworking without assistance from other personnel. Must be able tocontend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
