POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality ultrasound procedures toour patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient mannerwhile providing those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education /

Training:

Graduate of anapproved ultrasound school and subsequent Accreditation throughARDMS. May be registered in OB/GYN, ABDOMEN, and

BREAST, VASCULAR.BLS

is required within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Preference of at least two years of work experience in hospitalafter graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train.

Equipment and Skills Training:

Will train on specific equipment andprocesses utilized at Williamson Medical Center.

PhysicalEnvironment:

Multi modality imaging department that providesOB/GYN, Abdominal, Vascular and Pelvic ultrasound studies, toinclude Pediatric Imaging.

Physical Effort:

Possesses the abilityto perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulateand operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients fromwheelchairs to stretchers; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds;communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriatejudgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; anddemonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day today interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families,and physicians. Must be willing to take call for STAT, Urgent, andRoutine studies after hours and on weekends and must be availablewithin 30 minutes for STAT Procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Checkspatient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy ofrequest before proceeding with study. Communicates potential orexisting problems/opportunities to improve quality of care orservices. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient byensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during examand patient transport. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areasduring downtime periods and always makes good use of time. Checksoften on patients waiting in hallways to ensure that the patient iscovered and comfortable (Pain Management). Performs all biopsieswith the proper “Time Out” procedure to include marking of bodypart as well as proper process in labeling specimens. Showsleadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makesappropriate decisions. Transports patients to and from room inaccordance with transport processes, to include using Hand OffForm, when necessary. Ensures the safety of patients by followingall safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair toinclude proper footwear. Performs high quality studies consistentlyand follows pre-determined standards and procedures for allultrasound studies. Will scan according to predetermined protocolsprovided by Radiologists. Willing to provide portable studies forpatients when it is in the best interest of the patient as deemednecessary by the patient’s nurse or nursing supervisor. Utilizesknowledge of anatomy and disease processes to accuratelycommunicate patient pathology to Radiologist.
