Clinical Laboratory Veterinarian Confidential Miami, FL 33176 We are seeking a licensed and experienced Lab Animal Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited U.S. institution and maintain a valid veterinary license in at least one U.S. state. This role is pivotal in ensuring the humane care and ethical treatment of laboratory animals. Key Responsibilities Provide veterinary oversight and clinical care for research animals in compliance with USDA, OLAW, and AAALAC regulations. Collaborate with multiple departments to support scientific objectives while ensuring animal welfare. Conduct routine health monitoring, diagnostics, surgical procedures, and treatments for laboratory animals. Participate in Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) meetings, protocol reviews, and facility inspections. Develop and deliver training for research and animal care personnel on proper animal handling, procedures, and welfare practices. Serve as an advisor on regulatory compliance, veterinary ethics, and biosecurity. Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency care protocols. Maintain detailed medical records and participate in audits and inspections. Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an AVMA-accredited institution. Valid and current veterinary license in the United States. Completion of a laboratory animal medicine residency or equivalent experience preferred. ACLAM board certification or eligibility strongly preferred. Minimum 2 years of post-DVM experience in a research, academic, or clinical setting involving laboratory animals preferred. In-depth knowledge of federal regulations governing animal research (e.g., Animal Welfare Act, PHS Policy). Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
