Director of Racquet Sports General Purpose:

Provide Pickleball and Tennis lessons for community and outside guests, facilitate group events, and establish community programming. He will train and hire a teaching professional staff that will operate under Troon golf’s customer service standards.

Essential Duties:

 Supervises all Pickleball and Tennis play and proper charging of fees, and rental of equipment.  Initiates, directs and promotes pickleball/tennis clinics, special events and programs to attract and maintain members’ racquet sports interests.  Provides beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels of players.  Implements and develops lesson programs for mostly adults and some juniors.  Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other properties.  Works cooperatively with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.  Ensures proper inspection of the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order. Reports any maintenance problems to the department manager or Maintenance Manager.  Monitors court usage including special events, clinics and lessons.  Responsible for training, planning, assigning, evaluating performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems in the absence of Director.  Manages department members that may include, but are not limited to: Tennis Instructors, Tennis Merchandise Clerks, court maintenance staff.  Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.  Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.  Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.  Regular and reliable attendance.  Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.  Teach lessons to community, guests, and outside members  Ability to establish a Junior Program  Coordinate with the various tennis associations to secure business during off-peak times

Education/Experience:

Associate’s degree (AA); and four-six years related experience as a head tennis professional/instruction; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

Frequently stands, walks, uses hands; talks and hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Occasionally sits. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts to 50 pounds. Revised 1/09

Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses:

CPR, First Aid Certification, Teaching Certification (Tennis/pickleball),

Member of Professional Pickleball/Tennis Association Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

 Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).  Possess DUPR (or equivalent) and/or U.S.T.A. rating of 5.0 or better.
