The First Assistant Golf Professional assists the Director of Golf in the management of day-to-day Golf Operations of the Club. The position is responsible for supervising and managing total golf operations in the absence of the Director of Golf. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to providing an exceptional Member and Guest experience.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Thorough knowledge of Club amenities, activities, and events. Responsible for all facets of golf operations, including the supervision and training of golf shop staff, outside services, and locker room staff. Tee Sheet and handicap system management. Assist with Member and Guest check in; control and manage play. Assist with opening and closing Procedures. Timesheet and Payroll management within the Dayforce program. Tournament planning and management. Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations. Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, special orders, ordering procedures, receiving procedures, invoice reconciliation, displays, and sales. Maintain high visibility with Members and Guests, play golf with a variety of Members of all skill levels. Conduct individual golf instruction and manage and operate group clinics. Operate and ensure accuracy of POS system. Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments. Be an ambassador for Champions Retreat and positive staff culture. Achieve certifications in PGA or Instruction/Biochemical Field/Allied Associations. Job/Skill Requirements PGA membership Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations. Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations. Possess initiative and be committed to the Club’s business interest. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate in an attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous manner. Knowledge of general business administration procedures including forecasting, budget creation and staffing plans. Computer knowledge with office and club programs. Ability to anticipate needs and problem solve. Excellent organizational, team management, and time management skills. Ability to provide effective written and verbal instructions, as well as carry out detailed written or verbal instructions without close, daily direction. Attention to detail with a high sense of urgency. Professional and appropriate appearance and presentation. Must be able to work holidays and weekends and be flexible with changes as requested. Requires employee to bend, stoop, stand, and walk up to five (5) hours without a break. Requires employee to handle, lift, and carry up to 75 pounds of weight.
