SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director Tennis in all aspects of tennis, pickleball, and lawn sport initiatives. EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required and a minimum of 2 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must play at a 4.0 level or better and play with regularity. Must have either USPTA, or PTR teaching certifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Must maintain CPR/AED/First Aid Certifications. Maintain a positive playing status in the tennis community. Assist reporting manager on budget planning, implementation, and adherence. Assist in all calendar programming initiatives. Promote and utilize the marketing resources throughout the property Learn and assist in the reservation and POS systems. Assist in retail operations where needed. Instruct players in how to play tennis and improve their skill level. Must be able to teach the rules and strategy in a private and in group settings. Attend appropriate department, club, and resort meetings as needed. Be present during activities and events. Assist in all publications/articles to PCC/Resort communications. Provide member ratings, as requested, based on skill level (via NTRP) Assist and help implement all court maintenance activities. Including other sports. The head tennis professional requires a complete knowledge of tennis club operations including instruction at all levels, court maintenance, staff management, retail & special event coordination. The head professional will interact with an upscale & affluent clientele. Above average interpersonal skills are required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 2-3 employees within the tennis department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the functions of this job the employee is frequently required to talk or hear; regularly expected to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle, feel. The employee is occasionally expected to sit, climb or balance, stoop, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally expected to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions; occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently in contact with a moderate noise level typical to a business office environment. The employee will periodically teach tennis in uncomfortable heat or cold. Pinehurst, LLC reserves the right to transfer any Employee from his/her current job assignment or location to another job assignment or location as needed, either on a temporary or regular basis.
