OVERALL FUNCTION
The Berry Network Office of Northwestern Mutual is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Athlete Recruiter to identify, engage, and recruiter top-tier athletic talent for our organization. This individual will build strong relationships with athletic programs, former athletes, and sports networks to create a pipeline of competitive, disciplined, and goal-oriented candidates. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Source and recruit current and former athletes for the Financial Representative career or other roles aligned with their skill sets Build and maintain strong relationships with college athletic departments, sports organizations, and alumni associations Developed targeted outreach strategies via campus visits, networking events, career fairs, and social media Conduct interviews and assess candidate fit and whether it makes sense to introduce them to a local office for further consideration Act as a brand ambassador, promoting the company’s commitment to developing talent from athletic background Track recruiting metrics and provide regular updates to hiring managers and leadership Collaborate with marketing and other recruiters to craft compelling campaigns that appeal to athlete candidates.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required 2+ years of recruiting experience; experience with athlete recruiting or campus recruitment preferred Former athlete or deep understanding of athletic culture and values Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to practice attentive and active listening and communicate in an open and direct manner High level of coaching skills, e.g., empathy paired with honesty, listening, supportive, trustworthy, goal-oriented Ability to maintain confidentiality and build high-trust relationships Familiarity with Microsoft applications, data entry, and information retrieval software Demonstrated organizational and time management skills and ability to multitask, set priorities and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail with the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy Ability to embrace change and work in a fast-paced environment, as well as manage multiple diverse projects and assignments in a timely and quality manner Ability to work both independently and on a team Ability to maintain confidentiality High level of credibility with the leadership team and representatives in the office Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Experience as a technical or sales recruiter preferred Strong communication skills – both verbal and written Time management abilities to stay on track Experience with full cycle recruiting Excellent networking abilities for maintaining a candidate pool Three or more years progressively responsible work experience, preferably in sales, recruiting or related field; experience in the financial services or related industry is desired Strong communication skills required with the ability to build rapport and influence others Experience with prospecting; generating leads via phone or face-to-face interactions preferred Strong personal network and/or community involvement to leverage from a recruiting perspective
