Job Summary Reporting to the Office of University Counsel, the Institutional Officer for NCAA Certification and Student-Athlete Aid Specialist manages the NCAA student-athlete certification process, ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements, assists with student-athlete Financial Aid issues, and scholarship/ Alston/other award packages. This individual is responsible for continuing eligibility certification for all student-athletes and initial unofficial transfer evaluations. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, need limited supervision, have attention to detail, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, is proactive in learning changes in both NCAA legislation, financial aid rules, and degree requirements for various majors, and enjoy working collaboratively with campus constituents. This individual must be able to learn institutional processes regarding degree progress, calculation of GPA, and transfer of credits.
This individual must have experience with NCAA Progress Towards Degree bylaws and academic eligibility bylaws.
This individual is responsible for advising the Athletics Department if a student-athlete is academically eligible or ineligible. If a student-athlete is ineligible, this individual helps advise on the path forward to eligibility regarding courses needed to become eligible on a semester-by-semester plan.
This individual works heavily with the Admissions Department, university and college academic advisors, the Athletics Student Athlete Success and Compliance Departments, and with colleges related to catalog requirements for progress towards degree and graduation. Required Qualifications Master’s Degree
2 + years of experience in a position in a NCAA Division-I Athletics Compliance Office, Athletics Academics Office, or Athletics Student-Success Office in which the position has experience with Athletics responsibilities related to NCAA certification and/or evaluations; OR
2+ years of experience as a certifying officer or a position with certification responsibilities for a NCAA Division-I or Division-2 institution. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate Degree
3+ years in a NCAA Division-I Athletics Compliance Office, Athletics Academics Office, or Athletics Student-Success Office in which the position has experience with Athletics responsibilities related to NCAA certification and/or evaluations; OR
