Bakery Assistant Bloom Bake Shop 80 Pratt Street, Hartford, CT 06103 We are seeking a Full Time (possible part time) Baker’s Assistant to join our team here at Bloom Bake Shop! Bloom Bake Shop is a boutique bakery and flower shop located on historic Pratt Street in downtown Hartford, CT. Customer service/food industry experience is a must. We are open Tuesday – Sunday. Weekend availability is also a must. Preferred start date is mid June. Pay is based on experience from $16-$18 an hour plus tips. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of our bakery, ensuring that high-quality baked goods are produced efficiently and meet our customers’ expectations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a strong understanding of food handling practices, with baking skills and food preparation. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation and baking of various bakery products, including bread, cookies, brownies, sweet breads muffins, scones. Follow recipes accurately to ensure consistency in product quality. Assist to fill grab and go case when needed with savory food like green salads, chicken salad, yogurt parfaits. Package finished goods for display and sale, ensuring proper labeling and freshness. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, adhering to food safety standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and knives. Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals and customer demands. Requirements Previous experience in a bakery or culinary environment is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations is essential. Skills in cooking, pastry preparation and baking techniques are advantageous. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with baking.
