We are looking to hire a Baker Act Coordinator for North Port Behavioral Health in North Port, FL, which just opened in Feb 2025! The Baker Act Coordinator will coordinate the hospital’s Baker Act program to ensure strict compliance with all legal and operational aspects of the law.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Designs, develops and implements appropriate policies, procedures and forms in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Safeguards patient’s rights by reviewing admissions documents, charts and progress notes and ensuring staff follow regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Maintains communications with State’s Attorney, Public Defender, Courts, and all other designated individuals involved in the care and treatment of the patient.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with service providers, agencies hospitals and law enforcement.
- Provides required and ongoing training to all staff to insure compliance with regulatory requirements, i.e. BA Compliance, Chart Documentation, patient support, etc.
- Actively involved with Intake, Admissions, Nursing and Clinical Services in clinical record reviews.
- Ensures timely submission of all required court documents, attends court hearings and facilitates/communicates with all parties involved in the court process
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Three years’ experience as a BAC or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Baker Act required.
