Full-Time | Early Mornings | Weekend Availability Required The team behind Fellows Cafe is opening From the Well — an artisan bakery and neighborhood market in Roswell, GA. We specialize in naturally leavened, hand-shaped breads and classic French breakfast pastries, using seasonal and local ingredients. We’re seeking a Head Baker to lead our bakery program with precision, passion, and care.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who is technically skilled, deeply collaborative, and excited to shape something from the ground up.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Mix, scale, shape, and bake a variety of naturally leavened breads and laminated pastries
Maintain and nourish sourdough starters with consistency and precision
Bake off breads and pastries to meet daily production needs (retail and potential wholesale)
Ensure all baked goods meet or exceed the chef’s quality standards
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen in accordance with food safety standards
Adapt to working in a small, collaborative kitchen environment
Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented culture
Communicate clearly with FOH, culinary, and market teams
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
At least 2 years of artisan bread baking experience in a retail or wholesale bakery setting
Strong understanding of fermentation, hydration, shaping, and proofing techniques
Able to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, physically demanding kitchen
Weekend availability and early morning shifts beginning at 5:00 AM
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for full shifts
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Authorized to work in the U.S. and 18+ years of age
