Cake Decorator (part of Wakefern Food Corporation) 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 785 State Route 17m, Monroe, NY 10950 SRS is seeking to fill a full-time Cake Decorator position in our ShopRite of Monroe, NY location. Key Responsibilities of this position include:

Artistic Decoration:

Designing and executing a wide range of cake and pastry decorations using various techniques (e.g., frosting, piping, fondant, edible images) to create visually appealing products that meet store standards and customer specifications.

Custom Order Fulfillment:

Consulting with customers to understand their specific decoration needs for special occasions, accurately translating requests into finished products, and ensuring timely completion of orders.

Preparation & Production:

Preparing icings, fillings, and glazes; ensuring proper consistency and color; and maintaining adequate supplies of decorating materials.

Quality Control:

Ensuring that all decorated items are fresh, free from defects, and meet the highest standards of presentation and taste.

Sanitation & Hygiene:

Strictly adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling of ingredients, cleaning and sanitizing decorating tools, equipment, and work areas to prevent contamination.

Merchandising Support:

Assisting with the attractive display of decorated items in the bakery case, ensuring proper labeling and pricing.

Inventory & Waste Management:

Monitoring stock of decorating supplies, ordering as needed, and minimizing waste of ingredients and finished products.

Efficiency & Time Management:

Completing decoration tasks efficiently to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a bakery or related retail food environment is preferred. Certified in food safety with a strong understanding of quality assurance standards. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift 25-50 pounds, and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and pushing. Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and positive demeanor. Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $16.50 – $18.00 an hour. Placement in the range depends on several factors, such as experience, skills, geography, and may change over time. This position is eligible for vision, dental, life insurance, and legal plan benefits, which become available on a graduated basis over time according to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement (“CBA”). Paid time off (sick time, personal days, vacation days, and holidays) will accrue on a graduated basis over time in accordance with the CBA.
