Scaler (weighs and bags ingredients in an industrial bakery) Bakewise Brands, Inc. Macedon, NY 14502 Scalers are responsible for accurately weighing ingredients in an industrial bakery. We are hiring a day shift scaler.

Summary:

The Scaler is responsible for the entire scaling process, as well as training and leading other employees in the Scaling department through the scaling process. Following food safety, quality, and food regulatory requirements are critical when performing job duties of this position. In accordance with all company policies, the essential duties include, but are not limited to the following: Duties and Responsibilities A.

Follow all company policies including:

GMPs, HACCP, safety procedures, and product quality standards. B. Acquire a strong understanding of the bagel baking process, participating in a constant cooperative effort to improve process for quality and efficiency. C. Become familiar with raw materials used in all fresh and case-packed products and ensure accuracy in the scaling of all necessary ingredients. D. Scale ingredients for all products on fresh and case-packed products, as well as for test doughs and samples as needed. E. Complete paperwork ensuring 100% traceability of all scaled ingredients, including Scaled Ingredient Logs and Organic Batch Runs Sheets. F. Handle all ingredients according to company policies to ensure product quality and safety. G. Work closely with the Production Planner/Buyer, check dough schedules, and review Gantt charts in order to determine what products need to be scaled. Ensure that all needed ingredients are scaled for products that will be run. H. Communicate regularly with Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Management and Maintenance employees as necessary to ensure quality and efficiency in the scaling process. I. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the scaling area. Scaling is a clean room and must be kept free of contamination and debris. J. Perform all duties required in the Scaling Cell in order to ensure that Scaling is inspection ready at all times. K. Understand, practice and lead by example in all safety efforts. L. Train all new employees in the Scaling Department. M. Guide Scaling Employees to ensure that they understand all Scaling requirements on a daily basis. N. On occasion review all new and existing procedures to keep aware of expectations O. All other duties as assigned. Accountability A. Through a review of the performance of above duties and responsibilities. B. Through various oral communications to the Shift Manager, Plant Manager and other Management. Standards of Performance A. Quality of all aspects of scaled ingredients, from the inception of ingredients in the scaling area through the finished product that includes those scaled ingredients. B. Ability to guarantee of accuracy in the scaling process. C. Level of efficiency attained in the scaling process. D. Commitment to ensure 100% traceability of all scaled ingredients, completing all required paperwork with absolute accuracy and in its entirety. E. Cleanliness and organization of scaling area. The scaling room is a clean room and must remain free of contamination and debris. F. Ability to communicate well and serve as a trainer and leader for other employees in the Scaling department. G. Willingness to follow all safety rules and practices. Working Environment and Conditions Conditions in the work area may get up to 90-110 degrees with a high humidity level. Scaling room may be dusty; respirators are provided. Heavy and repetitive lifting is required. Slip-resistant shoes, safety glasses and masks must be worn by all employees at all times.
