We are looking for a full-time Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. The purpose of this position is to ensure that pastries and desserts meet or exceed quality standards as established by the Executive Pastry Chef, Executive Chef, governing agencies, and Bishop Gadsden.
A Typical Day:
Prepare breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes, doughnuts, biscuits, ice cream, and other pastries, according to established recipes.
Review production schedules, including BEOs, to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake and to assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily baking activities.
Receive ingredients and other supplies from main kitchen and/or pantry as required for daily operations.
Clean and maintain work areas, utensils, and equipment.
Detect and ensure disposal of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
Use, clean, and properly maintain specialized baking equipment including mixers, dough divider, and gelato machine.
Complete production sheets and other records as required.
Prepare baked goods for special diets as needed.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
What We Need In A Candidate:
Degree/Certification from a post-secondary culinary arts training program desirable.
A minimum of 1 year in a high-volume food service operation.
Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
