Honey Rock Books and Cafe is a new two-story bookstore cafe opening this summer in the heart of Gallatin’s historic square. We’re creating a space where books, culture, and great food come together—warm, welcoming, and full of life. We aim to offer an atmosphere that feels like home—one that welcomes families, sparks meaningful conversation about literary works, and encourages creativity and connection. The Cafe Our cafe brings a taste of South Florida culture to Tennessee, with a strong nod to Cuban coffee traditions and a menu that blends international flavors.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re hiring a Baker/Pastry Chef who’s passionate about quality, flavor, and culture. You’ll be responsible for preparing a range of baked goods—from sweet Cuban pastelitos to savory breakfast or lunch items—with consistency, creativity, and care.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and bake pastries daily (e.g., pastelitos, croquetas, empanadas, muffins, etc.) Support development of seasonal or special baked goods (sweet & savory) Manage kitchen prep related to baked items (doughs, fillings, etc.) Maintain inventory, prep lists, and cleanliness of baking area Follow health and safety guidelines in all food prep Coordinate with Cafe Manager and Cook for daily production timing Take initiative to suggest and test new pastry ideas

Requirements:

Experience in baking or pastry preparation (Latin or Cuban-style is a plus) Ability to manage small-batch, oven-based baking (no fryers or commercial ovens) Attention to detail, timing, and presentation Dependable, early riser, and able to work independently ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain

Bonus Points:

Familiarity with Cuban, South Florida, Latin American, or international cuisine Flexibility with early morning and weekend shifts
