Red Hen is a mid-sized bread bakery focused on hand-crafted, long-fermented breads. We are committed to using high quality, organic ingredients and work with many local farmers to source these. We opened in 1999 and remain dedicated to the integrity of the bread baking processes and creating an environment for our bakers to thrive. We are looking to add a full-time night bread baker to our team. We are looking for someone that can work four 10-hour shifts per week including one weekend day. The night bread bakers start their day at 2:00 or 3:00 pm and are generally done with the bake between midnight and 1:00 am. We typically begin all bread staff on the forming shift. This shift is from 9am-7pm. Once you have a good grasp on the forming shift, we will train you in the oven room. We produce on average 2000 loaves a day (more in the summer and around the holidays) and our days can be physically demanding but very fulfilling. Most of our breads are naturally leavened. We have 10-15 different varieties that we produce, and most are made with flour that we mill ourselves, in house. The majority of our breads are hand shaped. Our starting wage is determined by experience. The starting wage is only for the first month, after which your wage increases incrementally to a full-time proficiency level of $21.65/hour as you learn the position.
