About the Job At The Coffee Chat, a Barista is more than someone who just makes coffee for guests. A Barista at The Coffee Chat is passionate about coffee, culinary items, and creating unforgettable experiences for guests. We want you to grow with us as we expand our horizons along with as yours.
You Will:
Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. Operate espresso machines and other equipment to make quality drinks. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning coffee machines, utensils, and workstations. Take guest orders accurately and process payments using the POS system. Provide friendly and efficient service while addressing guest needs and preferences. Suggest cafe products, pairings, and promote specials. Support your team with tasks that keep the cafe running smoothly, such as cleaning, clearing and washing dishes, sweeping, dusting, mopping, organizing condiment stations, and taking out the trash. Uphold and follow all health, food safety, and safety guidelines. Promote a safe and respectful working environment. Deliver exceptional hospitality to guests, teammates, and vendors. Make and serve delicious beverages and food using various brewing and preparation methods. Stay knowledgeable about our beverage and food offerings, continuously cultivating your knowledge through in-house tastings, cuppings, and training. Regularly taste beverages to ensure quality, uphold standards, and develop your palate. Share your joy and knowledge of coffee with guests and inspire your teammates to do the same. You Are:
Searching for a career in food and beverage with a dynamic, growing team. Passionate about coffee, food, and creating inclusive hospitality experiences. You love honing your craft and understand the nourishing powers in each cup of coffee and each plate of delicious food. Excited about taking on new experiences and possess a can-do attitude. Eligible to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older.
You Have:
Existing Food Handler’s Certification required for the state you will be working in, or will obtain it within 15 days post-hire. Basic math and computer skills. A flexible schedule and are available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Proficiency in food handling practices to ensure food safety standards are met. Experience with Square POS or similar point-of-sale systems. Strong sales skills with the ability to recommend products and drive revenue. Knowledge of retail math for handling transactions and calculating change accurately. Competence in food preparation techniques for making beverages and light snacks. Excellent time management to handle multiple orders efficiently during peak hours. Exceptional customer service skills to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Understanding of food safety regulations to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Compensation:
Starting at $15.00 per hour. Cafe Incentive Program.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and walk for long periods. You’re on your feet the majority of the day, whether standing behind the bar pulling shots or walking the cafe floor (but we won’t force you to stand if there is no work to be done unlike those corporations). Use of hands to reach, grip, turn, and perform precision work. You’re using your hands to operate espresso machines, pour delicious pour-overs, and operate the register. Ability to squat, bend, twist, and reach for items below waist level or above shoulders as needed. Ability to lift, push/pull, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds (but generally not needed). Ability to climb ladders, steps, and uneven floors and/or surfaces as needed. Ability to smell and taste to ensure quality control for each cup and plate.
